One Year On: Reflections from 2020

The last twelve months have been unlike any we have known and for Citadel Health, it has led to significant changes as we help healthcare organisations navigate the pandemic and build a roadmap to a digitised and better-connected service. In this blog, we reflect on the last year and recap some of our notable announcements in 2020:

One year on from Wellbeing Acquisition
In 2020 we announced the acquisition of UK connected healthcare specialist Wellbeing Software. The move enhanced and accelerated our mission to deliver connected healthcare on an international scale. Following on from the acquisition, we expanded our portfolio to include Wellbeing’s market leading radiology and maternity solutions and extend the reach of our pathology and oncology systems to the UK. You can read more about it here.

Extending AI Connect Marketplace
Our AI Connect Marketplace continued to grow with the introduction of four new partners: Radiobotics, Cercare Medical, AZMed and Qure.ai. We also continued our collaboration with our partner Behold.ai to fast-track the diagnosis of COVID-19 in NHS hospitals using artificial intelligence to analyse chest X-rays. You can read more about our partnership here.

Supporting the NHS during COVID-19 crisis
We worked hard to enhance our solutions in response to the needs of healthcare practitioners and patients during the pandemic, shaping these services to reinforce the NHS Reset campaign. We shared advice on how to address unmet care needs with a range of backlog busters and the benefits of integrating diagnostic services to support early cancer diagnosis in the face of growing delays for treatment.

New product updates and enhancements
We introduced a series of new product developments to help organisations refine routine services in line with COVID-19 guidance. These included the introduction of medical consent forms within eConsent, and the launch of efficienC, a unique two-way communication tool which is proven to reduce DNAs in radiology departments and across the NHS.

We added a Digital Signature feature to eConsent to facilitate remote consent to treatment, while reducing contact and unnecessary visits to hospital for pre-op assessments. We also launched a new Patient Attend feature for Cris to support social distancing in waiting rooms. You can find out more here .

New strategic hires
Wellbeing Software made three specialist appointments to strengthen its maternity and pathology services, and to enhance its cyber security capability. Wai To has joined us as Senior Cyber Security Analyst while Emma Price and Sally Preece join as Digital Midwife and Bio-Medical Scientist. You can read more about their roles here.

New RIS contract for SWASH Consortium
We are grateful for the continued confidence bestowed upon us by Salisbury, Isle of Wight and Southampton consortium trusts (SWASH) who extended their Radiology Information System (RIS) contract for a further seven years. The consortium of trusts who are long-standing customers and advanced users of Wellbeing Cris took the opportunity to introduce a series of solution enhancements as part of the contract renewal. Find out more about it here.

We are incredibly proud of everyone at Citadel and Wellbeing Software for their hard work and dedication, and we thank our customers for their ongoing support, and of course, for their incredible service to the UK in these unprecedented times. We have been working hard to bring more exciting developments to market, which we sincerely hope will make the work of our valued customers less challenging as the NHS, and the world, begin to recover and look forward.
